Hello NOTSL members and friends,
NOTSL seeks nominations for three elected positions on the NOTSL Board: Vice Chair/Chair Elect, Executive Committee member, and Scholarship Committee member. Descriptions for these positions are provided below.
These service opportunities are a wonderful way to develop your leadership skills in a friendly and supportive environment, and to contribute to the Technical Services community by getting involved with NOTSL. NOTSL exists to provide opportunities for Technical Services Librarians to exchange information, ideas and experiences in Technical Services. NOTSL sponsors two programs per year and the members of the NOTSL board help to shape those programs.
We welcome and value candidates with all levels of experience. If you want to invest in the future of NOTSL and our profession, you are a qualified candidate! The NOTSL Nominating Committee would love to hear from you and answer your questions.
Below are the responsibilities of each position:
Vice Chair/Chair Elect: Three-year term (May 1, 2026-May 2029), one year each as Vice Chair/Chair Elect, Chairperson, and Past-Chairperson. The Vice Chair/Chair Elect will assist the Chairperson in planning and coordinating programs and works with the Executive Committee to identify prospective candidates for election. The Vice Chair/Chair Elect will perform all duties of the Chairperson in that officer's absence and perform other duties at the request of the current Chairperson.
Executive Committee Member: Two-year term (May 1, 2026-May 2028). The duties of the Executive Committee are to assist the Chairperson in committee appointments; plan programs; and handle the affairs of the organization between semi-annual meetings.
Scholarship Committee Member: Two-year term (May 1, 2026-May 2028). The Scholarship Committee will promote and advertise NOTSL Scholarships as appropriate; will receive and evaluate applications at the end of the calendar year; will investigate additional scholarship funding sources including, but not limited to, individual, institutional and vendor donations.
